Born in Teheran, Nazanin Fakoor initially studied Theatre Arts at the Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich and at the Sorbonne Nouvelle. She then studied scenography at La Cambre School of Visual Arts in Brussels.

In 2004, she met Robert Wilson and since then has been a regular guest at his artistic laboratory in New York, where she works on several projects and exhibits her work.
During her various assistantships in theatres and opera houses such as the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel (Bavarian State Theatre) in Munich and the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie/De Munt in Brussels, she has had the opportunity to work with Zhang Huang, Anish Kapoor, Pierre Audi, Robert Lepage, La Fura dels Baus, Karl-Ernst Herrmann, etc.

Her recent creations include the performance installation Totalitaria – A Fantastic Journey and the installations The Flower, Light Drawing and The Truth, the Whole Truth and Nothing but the Truth, which were shown in Belgium, Germany, France and the United States. Light Drawing has been purchased for the collection of M HKA museum for contemporary art in Antwerp in 2018.
